One of India’s foremost Indian Classical Guitar players, Debasis was groomed in the atmosphere of music from childhood. He began learning guitar from his father Shri Madhusudan Chakroborty in early childhood and later he took guidance from Pt. Barun Kumar Pal and Pt. Jotin Bhattacharya. His quest for learning the intricacies of guitar techniques and its aesthetical appeal inspired him to become a disciple of the guitar maestro Pandit Brij Bhushan Kabra in the traditional Guru Sishya Parampara of the Senia - Maihar Gharana.
Debasis's style of playing combines both Gayaki(Vocal) and Tantrakari (Instrumental) 'Angs' (genres). He is following the oldest style of playing Sitar, Sarod and Veena with his modified Guitar, which has its beautiful tecnical virtuosity and three octaves advantage. His purity of style, uniqueness of imagination and total absorption with melody make his recital enchanting. He is equally adept with light classical compositions and folk styles of rendering.
